The National University (NU) is one of the main institutions of higher education in Bangladesh. Every year, lakhs of students apply for admission to the honors, degree, and masters programs in the colleges affiliated with this university. The admission process for the 2024-25 academic year at the National University has already begun, and the process of publishing its results is ongoing. As a new addition to the admission process this year, an admission test has been introduced for the honors program. In this article, we will discuss the detailed information of the NU admission result for 2025, the merit list, migration result, quota, and release slip result.
National University Admission Result 2025
The National University admission result is published in several steps. These include the first and second merit lists, migration results, quota results, and release slip results. This year, the honors 1st-year admission test was held on May 30, 2025. The merit list for the admission process has been prepared based on a total of 200 marks, of which 100 marks came from the MCQ result of the admission test, and the remaining 100 marks are based on the SSC (40%) and HSC (60%) results. The various steps of this process are discussed in detail below.
First Merit List
It has been announced that the first merit list of the National University will be published by June 26, 2025. Students who find a place on this list will have to complete the final admission form and pay the admission fee within a specified time. To complete the admission process, students who have secured a place on the first merit list will have to pay an application fee of 700 taka and a registration fee of 565 taka. If admission is not confirmed, the seat will be canceled. Students can keep the migration option active at this time, which allows them to be promoted to a higher preference on their list.
Second Merit List
The second merit list is published after the admission process of the first merit list is completed. According to the information from 2024, the second merit list was published on April 18, and for 2025, it is likely to be published in the Second week of July. Students who secured a place on this list had to fill out the final admission form between April 18 and 28. Along with the second merit list, the first migration result is also published, which gives students the opportunity to change their subject or college. All students who were not selected for admission in the 1st merit list have been included in the second list. The second list has been published for vacant seats according to the student's merit position.
Migration Result
The migration result provides students with the opportunity to be promoted to a higher preference on their list. The first migration result is published with the second merit list, and the second migration result is published with the third merit list. In 2024, the second migration result was published on May 6. If the subject is changed through migration, students have to download and submit the subject change form for admission to the new department. If the migration option is not turned off, it remains automatically active.
Release Slip Result
Students who did not get a place on the first or second merit list, have canceled their admission, or have not completed their admission can apply for a release slip. The National University usually publishes two release slips. The first release slip result for 2025 was published on January 16, and students will have to complete the admission process between January 16 and 26. Through the release slip, students can choose five new colleges and subjects. However, students admitted through the release slip are not given the migration facility.
